KATE GRINTER – PEOPLE AND CULTURE MANAGER,
EMI CYBULSKI – PEOPLE AND CULTURE ADVISOR
Throughout the last 12 months, there have been huge changes to our working lives. During these testing times, we’ve had to revaluate our ways of working and take on a more adaptable approach. From supporting our team members and enhancing engagement to talent attraction and retention, we’ve really had to take a step back in order to plan for the long-term future of work at Core.
A focus on ‘balance’ has become increasingly important, with team members looking to change the way they work to suit their individual needs, as well as those of their families. As such, Core has taken enormous steps to create a workplace we are proud to be a part of.
At Core, we are always looking for innovative ways that we can support our team and use our business as a force for good.
Some key initiatives that have been implemented include:
New Parental Leave Policy
We have recently revised our Parental Leave Policy to ensure that all caregivers have access to 8 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of gender or role.
Additionally, to assist with the transition back to work, all caregivers are now entitled to reduced hours (75% of agreed work hours) at full pay for the first 4 weeks from returning from parental leave to assist with establishing a new work/life balance.
Lastly, superannuation contributions will now be applied to all paid parental leave, with the aim of reducing the gender super gap in retirement savings.
Family-Friendly Workplace Certification
At Core we believe that family-inclusive workplaces are the way of the future. We know that all family situations are different and we want to be there to support our team through all phases of life.
We are excited to be in the process of working towards our Family Friendly Workplace certification. This program will assist us in benchmarking against best practice guidelines that support team members with their work, family and wellbeing needs.
With acceptance and integrity as our core values, it’s important we give our team the flexibility to put their families first and support them in balancing work and home life.
Leading Teams Program
At Core, we are always looking for ways that we can grow and develop our team members. As such, we have recently launched the Leading Teams program to provide our leaders with the tools and resources needed to build strong relationships, strengthen team culture and foster open and honest communication throughout the wider business. As a result of the implementation, we are seeing highly effective leaders driving company performance and positively impacting those around them.
